TECH SHEET 52 - PROFLEX TIE PREP
ProFlex Tie Prep will allow you to perform color work on hard pliable Plastics and many various Metal surfaces. ProFlex Tie Prep will provide excellent adhesion to withstand heavy wear and tear. As with all surfaces in question we recommend that you test the surfaces prior to full coverage application.
PREPARATION
For both hard pliable plastics and metal surfaces, clean surface thoroughly using diluted Multi Clean. Lightly surface sand entire area using fine sandpaper (400 or finer), then wipe clean with Multi Clean. On surfaces which contain silicon or other tough surface coatings, wipe down with Flex Solv prior to sanding. TEST SURFACE REACTION TO FLEX SOLV PRIOR TO APPLICATION. Again wipe clean using Multi Clean. Wipe residue with water-dampened rinse rag. Surface to be colored must be dry prior to spraying.
APPLICATION
On many hard pliable plastic surfaces and virtually all metal surfaces you will find it necessary to dilute ProFlex Tie Prep using high quality water to achieve ultra smooth finish. Light sanding may be necessary. When thinning with water never use more than 2% Flow to any mixture. Any more than 2% will cause poor adhesion and peeling.
Apply ProFlex Tie Prep as a very fine atomized coating that covers the entire surface evenly. Dry each coat thoroughly prior to next application. If thinned out properly, you will notice (once fully dried) the Tie Prep to appear very smooth and even. Continue with applications until you achieve the desired finish. Several very thin coats may be needed. Again sand lightly for smoothing out surface.
Spray apply Intermix Color using thin even coats, drying each coat individually. Continue until full coverage is achieved. Topcoat with HIBASE to give added protection. Remember, allow to set for a minimum of 24 hours to fully cure.
ProFlex Tie Prep and Intermix Color can be sponge applied. Avoid streaking by keeping applicator moist at all times. Apply thin even coats, drying thoroughly between coats. The advantage to sponge application is the ability to reach and coat creases and tight corners. Spray application may cause liquid to bridge over low areas with poor adhesion.
Suggested applications: Black out molding, door trim, Chevy Van interiors, bumpers, windshield wipers, and much more.
