TECH SHEET 47 - PROFLEX SVA
To: Velour Specialists
Subject: ProFlex SVA (Spray Velour Adhesive)
Everyday we receive inquiries from velour repair professionals searching for a high performance, permanent adhesive. Once they try our SVA their search is over. Why? No other adhesive can compare in performance.
Note: Beware of inferior, unlabeled, two-part adhesives. Often, one part is a severe allergenic containing suspected carcinogens. Please, at all times know your supplies and their effect on your body! Know your suppliers too.
We suggest a simple test to convince yourself our SVA is superior. Electrostatically flock a two inch circle on an old T-shirt using your current velour adhesive. Repeat the process using ProFlex SVA (medium wet coat application). Do not topcoat the SVA repair.
Allow both sprayed areas to cure for 24 hours. Using a stiff bristle tooth brush, subject both areas to one hundred hard strokes. Make your own conclusion.
PreVals can clog because the SVA is an extremely high solids formulation. Keep round packers on hand filled with rinse water along with a back-up PreVal unit. Better yet, use an environmentally friendly, inexpensive atomizer. They are easily cleaned with pipe cleaner and water. NO SOLVENTS.
Our nylon velour fibers provide a natural slip. Avoid topcoating your repairs. Refer to your T-SHIRT comparison. If your velour fibers are properly embedded into SVA coating, topcoating will never be necessary. This is when your ESA3 will demonstrate its extreme importance to achieve professional results. Should you still be inclined to topcoat your repairs, use a mixture of one part SVA to four parts water.
Safety, regardless of time spent on job, is critical. The label on the SVA is intended to scare you into good industrial hygiene. Note the HMIS ratings are quite low. Realistically it is much safer than other adhesives. Call if you have questions.
